Soti mass murder: 23 remanded to judicial custody



KATHMANDU: The Rukum district court has sent 23 persons including a ward chair to judicial custody on the charge of murder.

They are accused of murdering six youths in the mass murder that took place in Soti of Chaurjahari municipality-8 on May 23.

Likewise, one of the accused was released on a bail of Rs. 100,000 while three were freed on a general date, according to records keeper at the court Krita Bahadur Bohara.

The decision was handed down by District Judge Bidya Raj Poudel.

Those remanded to custody are the ward chair Damber Bahadur Malla and others charged of murdering the six youths, including one from Rukum east and five from neighbouring Jajarkot district.

The district attorney had filed a case against 34 persons accused of involvement in the heinous act.

Of the 29 arrested, two minors have been sent to child correction centres as per the decision of the court.
