Birgunj metropolis brings Rs 3.87 billion budget for upcoming fiscal



BIRGUNJ: The Birgunj metropolis has presented the budget of Rs 3.87 billion for the upcoming fiscal year through its seventh town assembly meet on Wednesday.

Towards ‘RUDP’ and ‘STIUEIP’ projects to be launched in the upcoming year, Rs 1.4 billion has been allocated. The budget mentioned about several wards-level programmes, targeted programmes, Tarai-Madhesh Prosperity Programme, road widening project, employment programme, multi-sectoral nutrition programme, Ujyalo Birgunj Programme, programmes for educational development, health-related programmes, agricultural development and livestock development programmes and so on.

Rs 450 million has been allocated towards the social security scheme. Deputy mayor Shanti Karki unveiled the budget.

Mayor Bijya Kumar Sarawagi presided over the programme where State 2 infrastructure development minister Jitendra Sonal echoed the need of investing more in health sector bearing in mind the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
