KATHMANDU: As a means of regulating the recently changed provisions of Secondary Education Examination (SEE) which let the schools promote the students on the basis of internal examination, the National Education Board (NEB) has made 75% attendance mandatory for being considered for internal evaluation.

The NEB has tried to check the possibility of letting students passed in SEE in a lump sum, i.e. without including them in the exam by reinforcing the provision of 75% attendance mandatory for being promoted to upper grade.

With this provision, only the students who have been present in the school they were enrolled in for at 75% of the total days the school was run will be considered eligible for internal evaluation to be carried out by the school.

Introducing the Procedure for the Evaluation, Result Publication and Verification, 2020, NEB has enforced the provision of 75% attendance mandatory for the promotion through internal evaluation.

As per the procedure, each school has to form an evaluation committee under the coordination the Headmaster/Principal.

The committee shall have 3 members and it will consider the promotion with the exam registration form, submission of exam fee, and the marks they secured as per the evaluation based on the curriculum prescribed by Curriculum Development Center.

The school has to prepare separate evaluation sheets for regular, partial and grade promotion seeker students separately.

Likewise while entering the marks of the students, the school should enter the marks in ascending symbol numbers.
The schools have to maintain confidentiality regarding the marks unless NEB publishes the result.
