COVID-19 diagnosed boy had sneaked into Nepal during lockdown

KATHMANDU: A 14-year-old boy has been tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday. He is the youngest person to be infected with the pandemic virus in Nepal so far.

His swab sample was first tested through the rapid diagnostic test and the result came positive. Then, his swab sample was tested in Janakpur and the result was negative. Interestingly, the sample was reconfirmed in the Teku-based National Public Laboratory where the result came positive for coronavirus.

A youth from Dhanakaul Rural Municipality has entered Nepal from India on April 5 during the lockdown.

He was kept in quarantine after it was informed that he was an India returnee, Dhanusha Chief District Officer Kosh Hari Niraula said.

After his negative test, he was sent to his village. The authorities are now planning to send an ambulance to take him to the nearest isolation center.
