With two new cases, Nepal’s COVID-19 tally reaches 47



KATHMANDU: Nepal has reported two new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours taking the total tally to 47, the Ministry of Health and Population said on Thursday.

Speaking at a press briefing, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Bikash Devkota shared that two new patients are a 55-year-old woman from Udayapur and a 14-year-old boy from Janakpur.

Their swab samples were tested at the Teku-based National Public Health Laboratory.

Meanwhile, two patients have been discharged from the Patan Academy of Health Sciences. Those leaving the hospital today are from Sun City Apartment in Kathmandu.

A 58-years old man and his 81-year-old mother were discharged from the hospital today following successful treatment for COVID-19. They had tested positive for novel coronavirus on April 14

With this, a total of nine people have been discharged across Nepal following successful treatment.

Speaking at the briefing, Spokesperson Devkota added that 9,199 samples have been tested through the Polymerase Chain Reaction method and 34,523 through Rapid Diagnostic Test so far.

A total of 86 people have been isolated, he informed.
