‘Lockdown’ announced in Arghakhanchhi amid COVID-19 fear



ARGHAKHANCHHI: The District Administration Office, Arghakhanchhi has announced a ‘lockdown’ in the district for an indefinite period from Monday midnight amid coronavirus fear.

A meeting held today made the decision to this effect as a precautionary measure to tackle the novel coronavirus spread in the district, Chief District Officer Binay Raj Poudel said.

All public transportation and private vehicles, and two-wheelers will be barred from plying the streets. However, freights will not be stopped. The drivers will, however, have to undergo health examination at the health desks.

Poudel said that vehicles carrying essentials such as milk, pharmaceuticals, drinking water, daily commodities will be allowed to operate.

While pharmaceuticals will remain open for 24 hours; grocery stores, gas, and fruit shops will open from 10 am to 2 pm every day. Likewise, vegetable markets will open from 6 am to 9 am and 4 pm to 7 pm every day.

Industries, factories, and market places will remain closed from tomorrow, he added.
