TU claims it can execute COVID-19 tests



KATHMANDU: While Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Diseases Hospital is said to be ‘overburdened’ with the demands for coronavirus tests, the Department of Biotechnology of Tribhuvan University has claimed that it has both the skill and tools to execute COVID tests. So far Teku based Shukraraj Hospital is regarded as the only competent authority to carry out the tests.

Issuing a statement the TU affiliated Department of Biotechnology(DoBT) has informed that the department has both the tools and manpower needed for executing the COVID-19 test. The department has claimed that it can offer the test result within 4 hours of getting the sample.

The DoBT has claimed that it can offer both skilled and semi-skilled manpower provided it’s requested via Tribhuvan University.

It has included the details of the services including the tests, quarantine facilities etc. it can provide if asked in such emergencies
