7 families displaced in Jhapa flood

JHAPA: The flood in various rivers induced by the incessant rainfall has displaced 7 families in different places in Jhapa.

According to District Police Office Jhapa, 6 families of Bahradashi-7 Tulsibari, have to desert their houses due to the flood in Biring Khola.

Area Police Office Ghailadubba has informed that the displaced families are sheltering in the nearby school.

The incessant rainfall has caused the surging of many rivers of Jhapa like Mechi, Kankai, Ratuwa etc.

Alarmed at the idea that the settlement in southern parts are likely to be hard hit, the police has alerted the people of those areas to be prepared to shift to other places provided the situation  further aggravates.

Similarly, when the Deuniya khola entered the settlement at Haldibari-3, Devi Basti, one house has been destroyed making the family homeless.

Mechi River has eroded the settlements on its bank in Pathamari area of Kachankaval Rural Municipality making more houses vulnerable to inundation provided the rainfall continues.
