192 Nepalis in foreign countries die of coronavirus



KATHMANDU: A Nepali national in foreign land died of the coronavirus in the past week.

According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), death was reported in Luxemburg that took the death toll in the Nepali diaspora to 192.

As per the record maintained by the NRNA Health Committee, Nepalis in 16 countries have succumbed to the pandemic as of Saturday evening.

Nepalis in the UK, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Ireland, Japan, Turkey, the Netherlands, Sweden, India and South Africa among others have succumbed to the coronavirus so far.

According to the Health Committee, the coronavirus infections increased slightly in Australia, Spain, Belgium, India, Malta, Qatar and Saudi Arabia in the past week.

Nepalis living in 38 countries of the world have been infected with the coronavirus, said Coordinator of NRNA Health Committee Dr. Sanjeev Sapkota.

A total of 34,301 Nepalis abroad have been diagnosed coronavirus positive so far and among them, 32,253 (93.5 percent) have recovered, according to the committee.
