KATHMANDU: The ‘zero hour’ declared by the Supreme Court during the COVID-19 lockdown has ended from Thursday (July 23) in the respective district and in case of inter-district, it will end from August 17.
The Court had decided to observe the lockdown period as a ‘zero hour’ that began from March 22, two days before the nationwide lockdown started over COVID-19 pandemic.
The lockdown ended on July 22.
With the removal of lockdown, transportation within the district has resumed. However, inter-district transportation will resume from August 17.
“Lockdown has ended in the Kathmandu Valley. It has been decided that all court dates will be furnished within 30 days from today, the day when the ‘zero hour’ has been finished. In case of inter-district, the period will end on August 17,” said the apex court’s spokesperson Bhadrakali Pokharel.
A full bench of the apex court comprising 19 justices and presided by Chief Justice had decided to declare the lockdown period as a ‘zero hour’ for the legal purposes.
Courts had faced hurdles in delivering justices due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
