Thunderstorms likely in hilly and mountainous areas



KATHMANDU: The country is currently experiencing partial influence of westerly and local winds, resulting in partly cloudy conditions in many areas and generally cloudy weather in some regions.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather is generally cloudy in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces, while other areas are seeing partly cloudy skies.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning have been reported in one or two locations in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy in the Himalayan and hilly regions, while conditions in the Terai will be mostly clear. There is also a chance of thunderstorms and lightning in isolated areas of the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, the weather is likely to be generally cloudy in the mountainous areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, with partly cloudy conditions elsewhere in the hills. The Terai and remaining hilly regions are expected to remain mostly clear.

Light rain or snowfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is possible in one or two locations in the mountainous areas of Gandaki Province.

The Department has urged the public and relevant authorities to remain cautious and stay updated, as there is a risk of thunderstorms, lightning, rain, and snowfall in various mountainous regions.
