HoR passes Citizen Investment Trust Bill widening its scope

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday passed ‘Citizen Investment Trust (Second Amendment) Bill 2076’ submitted by the Minister for Finance Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada.

Prior to the approval, Minister Dr. Khatiwada responded to the queries of lawmakers and said that the Trust was set up to encourage the officials for the saving and ensure better economic life of the officials after their retirement.

He added that the scope of Trust will be gradually increased adding that the amendment bill was presented without conflicting its core functions with the Social Security Fund and Employee Provident Fund.

Taking part in the theoretical discussions on the Bill, lawmakers Dibyamani Rajbhandari, Pradip Giri, Prem Suwal and others said that the money of the Trust should be utilized by giving priority to education, health, hydropower and agriculture sectors.

Similarly, Minister Dr. Khatiwada tabled the Customs Bill, 2077 at the HoR today.

On the occasion, Minister Dr. Khatiwada said that the Bill was presented to develop the international-level customs system in the country adding that Nepal’s customs need to be updated as per the standard operating procedures and principles of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Similarly, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota read out the letters received from the Office of the President on the authentication of bills.

The House of Representatives shall meet next on July 1. RSS
