2 militants, 1 CRPF soldier killed in Pulwama encounter



JAMMU & KASHMIR: Two militants and a CRPF soldier were killed in an encounter in Bandzoo of Kashmir’s Pulwama district early today, Indian media reports have said.

Security personnel recovered arms and ammunition from the site.

According to Inspector-General of Police Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar, two unidentified militants have been killed so far’ in the ongoing encounter.

The CRPF head constable was critically injured and later succumbed to the injuries.

He received gunshot wounds when militants opened fired during the operation.

Reports said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles and the 182 CRPF had launched a cordon-and-search-operation in the area.

As the team encircled the spot, the militants fired upon them. The security personnel retaliated, triggering an encounter.

Operation is still underway, reports have said.
