Govt raises Rs 2 bln for COVID-19 fund



KATHMANDU: The Nepal government has said it has deposited Rs 2,348,137,000 in the COVID-19 Infection Prevention Control and Treatment Fund.

Of which Rs 286,758,000 has been spent so far, according to Narayan Prasad Bidari, secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers.

The detailed expenditure done by federal, provincial and local governments will be presented in the public accounts committee of the parliament a few days later.

Similarly, the government has doled out Rs 132,256,000 for 176 local units and Rs 27,723,000 for those local units which are operating holding centers near the Nepal-India border.
