Province 2 procures two PCR machines for Janakpur, Rajbiraj

JANAKPURDHAM: With the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the province, the Province 2 government has bought 2 new PCR machines for the test.

After the skepticism over the quality and reliability of the report of the PCR conducted via the machine installed in the Provincial Hospital Janakpur, the Province 2 government has procured two PCR machines to carry out the tests in Janakpurdham and Rajbiraj.

The Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Gyanendra Kumar Yadav confirmed that the province has procured two PCR machines citing the coronavirus spread in the 8 districts of Province 2 bordered with India.

“Lately, we are under pressure of COVID-19 as 8 districts of the province border with India and there is the inflow of migrant workers gone there,” he said, “So, we decided to procure more machines to intensify the tests here.”

The test in the Provincial Hospital was halted after it came with a contradictory report with the Kathmandu based National Laboratory. Both machines used for the tests before were shut down after they served the contradictory report.

With that the PCR tests in Janakpur were halted for nearly two weeks.

“Newly procured machines will end the situation in which the swab had to be collected and sent to the Kathmandu based national laboratory and wait for days for the result,” Minister Yadav said.

He added that the new machines will come into operation by Monday.
