Nepal Army camp set up at Ghantibagar in Darchula

DARCHULA: Nepal Army (NA) has set up its camps at Ghantibagar area in Byas rural municipality-2 of the district to construct a trail route.

A 450-meter long and two-meter wide trail road will be constructed between Ghantibagar and Maurabhel area.

On Thursday, NA dropped the necessary equipment and materials in the area through a helicopter. Construction work starts from today said chief of Durgadal battalion, Shyam Raja Bikram Thapa.

Physical resources and a technical team have also been managed for the same, he said, adding that mobilizing workforce is continuing today. The trail route to be constructed will facilitate movements of 115 households at Chhangaru in Byas rural municipality-1 and 65 households at Tinkar.

The local residents have been using an Indian road due to the disruption of the road from Nepali territory.

A big rock at Maurabhel and landslide debris at Ghantibagar has blocked the roads from the Nepali land side disrupting movements of local people to and from Byas rural municipality. Movements of the local people using road from Nepal’s land have been affected due to lack of a usable road, said Binod Singh Budhathoki, ward secretary of Byas rural municipality-1.

A Cabinet meeting on April 26 had decided to deploy NA in the area to construct an 87-km road in the northern side under the Mahakali corridor (Darchula-Tinkar road project).

Started from the fiscal year 2065/66 BS, only a 40-km track along the Darchula-Tinkar has been completed so far. RSS
