Police raid former minister Alam’s house in Rautahat

KATHMANDU: Police have raided the house of former minister Aftab Alam in Rautahat last night.

Alam has been convicted for his involvement in the Rajpur bomb incident.

Police had reached Alam’s house at midnight to arrest Mantab Alam, brother of Aftab. Mantab has been absconding.

Locals had protested the police raid alleging the latter of carrying our raid at midnight.

Police had to fire 12 rounds of blank fire when infuriated locals in large numbers tried to attack the police.

Rautahat SP Rabiraj Khadka said they raided Alam’s house acting on a tip-off that Mantab was hiding inside the house.

However, no arrests were made.
