Rescue stranded Nepalis at govt’s expense: NC

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has drawn the attention of the government to rescue Nepalis stranded abroad at the government’s expense.

The Supreme Court (SC) had earlier ordered the government to rescue migrant workers through government funds.

In a press release, NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma said that the migrant workers have been forced to pay for expensive chartered flights even two months after the order by the apex court.

Sharma said that it was the responsibility of the state to extend love and support Nepali migrant workers currently having a hard time abroad.

“How fair is it to ask the workers who have been unemployed for six months to buy expensive charter flight tickets? Isn’t the decision to conduct only three chartered flights a day defamation of the court Prime Minister?”, Sharma asked in the statement.
