KATHMANDU: In a bid to expand COVID-19 tests, the government has brought seven RNA extraction machines.

With the procurement of the new machines, the government is likely to double the testing capacity of the labs.

These new machines will be sent to Biratnagar, Birgunj, Dhangadi, Nepalgunj, Surkhet, Dhulikhel, and Pokhara.

These new machines can extract the RNA without taking much time.

The National Public Health Laboratory currently has such an extraction machine, which can test more than 1,000 samples a day.
