Chinese woman dies of coronavirus at Teaching Hospital



KATHMANDU: A Chinese woman has died of coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday to become the first foreigner to die of coronavirus pandemic in Nepal.

According to Dr Rohit Pokhrel, Executive Director at the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), the 49 year old woman undergoing treatment at the TUTH for coronavirus pandemic died this morning.

The Chinese national, who was living in Pokhara, was airlifted to Kathmandu via Prabhu Air’s helicopter on Friday after she complained of chest pain and breathing difficulty.

She was earlier taken to the Dhapashi-based Grande Hospital.

After finding her positive with coronavirus, the woman was referred to the Teaching Hospital where she died this morning.

She is the first foreign national to die of coronavirus pandemic in Nepal.

The Ministry of Health and Population is still to verify the news.

Besides this, there have been 41 deaths from COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal.
