7.8-magnitude quake jolts Alaska, prompts tsunami warning



ALASKA: A powerful earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale has rocked Alaska on Wednesday morning.

According to the USGS, the quake struck with a depth of six miles and was centered 60 miles south-southeast of Perryville, Alaska.

The quake prompted a tsunami warning to be issued for Alaska. The loss of lives and properties caused by the earthquake is yet to be reported.

It was felt as far away as Anchorage, which is about 500 miles away, international media reported.
