KATHMANDU: The security bodies are found active in rescuing migrant Nepali workers who are stranded at India-Nepal border in the wake of the extended lockdown in both countries.
The security bodies have worked together with local levels to this end. According to COVID-19 focal person of Kanchanpur, Siddharaj Bhatta, nearly 600 new entrants were kept in quarantines after their health check in a week.
He added that about 150 persons were rescued today from different border points while they were entering Nepal via clandestine ways.
Even the swab was collected from 95 persons, reaching Chandani-Dodhara border areas.
Similarly, spokesperson at the District Police Office, DSP Rabindra Poudel, said a total of 278 Nepalis were rescued from Chandani- Dodhara area and kept at Bhimduttanagar based Baijnath School’s quarantine.
A large number of Nepali workers are still desperately waiting for their return home back as they lost jobs due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Bhimduttanagar Municipality Mayor Surendra Bista shared that they were planning to manage quarantine facilities to those who have arrived at no man’s land to enter home lately. RSS
