NEPALGUNJ: One thousand three hundred twenty-five Nepalis entered the country through the Jamunaha transit point in Nepalgunj, Banke district, on Wednesday.

The local administration brought these people who were stranded due to the lockdown on the Indian side of the border for a long time, assistant chief district officer Hari Pyakurel said.

According to him, among the Nepalis brought home include those from the 10 districts of Karnali State and from Banke, Bardia, Dang, and Pyuthan districts of State-5.

The highest number is from the Dailekh district of Karnali. Five hundred and one of the returnees are from Dailekh.

Assistant chief district officer Pyakurel said the local levels of the districts concerned will take these people back to their respective places and they would be kept in quarantine at the respective local levels.

The local administration had rescued 687 Nepalis who had been kept in quarantines and living at the Nepal-India border area in India on May 15 before this.

In Banke district, coronavirus infection has been found more in people returned from India recently.
