17 new coronavirus cases confirmed, Nepal’s tally hits 444



KATHMANDU: Nepal has confirmed 17 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

With this, the number of coronavirus-infected people in the country has reached 444 out of which 45 have recovered and been discharged, Joinst Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari said this morning.

Joint Spokesperson Dr. Adhikari informed 16 of them are male and one is female.

According to him, 15 people from Kachankabal rural municipality,Jhapa aged 18, 18, , 319, 19, 22, 23, 23, 25, 26, 26, 28, 30 , 32, 37, 46 and one from Dhankuta aged 34 and one woman from Dharan Sub Metropolitan City, Sunsari aged 51 have tested positive for the pandemic virus.

The new cases were confirmed after their swabs results came out to be positive at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences and Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Biratnagar.

Kapilvastu district on Wednesday also reported 13 cases. Out of 13 cases, 6 are male aged 12, 22, 35, 48, 20,24, and 34. Similarly, the age of females infected in Kapilvastu district are 3, 4, 5, 16. 25, 32.

Likewise, Nawaparashi (West) reported the first case of COVID-19. A 25-year-old man has been diagnosed with the virus.

Meanwhile, eight COVID-19 patients have been discharged from Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar, after recovering from the virus.

Three COVID-19 patients of Bhulke Masjid and five patients of Udayapur Triyuga-3, Bhulke were discharged from the hospital after testing negative for the virus in three PCR tests.

Similarly, 2,280 samples have been tested through the PCR method in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 32,604.

Two persons have died so far from COVID-19 in Nepal.

Likewise, the Ministry has decided to send a team of 10 health workers including doctors each in Province 2 and Province 5.
