Images claiming virus leakage from refrigerator in China go viral

KATHMANDU: Images claiming ‘the leakage’ of Coronavirus from a refrigerator in an institute based in China’s Wuhan City have gone viral of late.

The images claim that the virus leaked from a broken seal of the refrigerator of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, in Wuhan City where the novel virus broke out last December.

China Daily newspaper had made public the images of the Wuhan Institute of Virology for the first time in 2018 through its Twitter account but they had been deleted immediately.

With the virus wreaking havoc across the world, some international media have made these images viral yet again.

According to international media reports, over 1,500 types of virus strains have been preserved in the Wuhan City of Virology in Hubei Province.

International media have reported that China Daily published the images with a caption, “Wuhan Institute of Virology in Hubei Province, the biggest virus bank in the world, which preserves over 1,500 virus strains.”

American President Donald Trump has been accusing WHO of being prejudiced and demanding investigation on China regarding the virus. On last Friday, Trump had announced that America stopped providing financial assistance to Wuhan Institute.

United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has been stating that China has to make public facts of the virus leakage from the lab.

According to a report of The Washington Post, America had known in advance that the epidemic was spreading from Wuhan City.
American politicians had informed the US government about the virus in the Wuhan lab. However,  China has been refuting it.
