Energy production must be increased for prosperous Nepal: Kulman Ghising

SAPTARI: Ujyalo Nepal Party Chairman Kulman Ghising has said that increasing production in the energy sector is essential to making Nepal prosperous.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the party in Rajbiraj on Friday, Ghising stressed the need for self-reliance in electricity generation along with the development of the agricultural sector to achieve economic prosperity. He said the initiatives and reforms he led in the energy sector have provided a practical and implementable model for the country.

Ghising said his experience could be utilized for Nepal’s overall economic transformation, adding that the country has the potential to generate up to 30,000 megawatts of electricity within the next 10 years and earn substantial income from the sector.

“Nepal can become self-reliant, and people can even access electricity at no cost,” he said. “Sustainable development is not possible without achieving self-reliance in basic sectors such as agriculture, drinking water, employment and energy. Our party is clear on this vision.”

He added that the party is moving forward by placing the expectations and needs of the people at the centre of its policies, with a strong focus on good governance, transparency and development.
