Youth who recorded audio about COVID-19 says he did it to increase page like



KATHMANDU: A youth arrested on the charge of making public a misleading audio on COVID-19 has said that he recorded the clip to increase reach and like on his Facebook page.

Bibek Thapa Magar, 20 of Ramechhap and currently living in Bhaktapur said so to police during interrogation after being arrested on the charge of making public a misleading audio clip about COVID-19 that has become viral on social networking sites of late.

Magar had made public the audio clip through his page named ‘Jhorle News’.

The one-minute audio has said Norvic Hospital had coronavirus cases and it was informed by the employee there.

The audio viral on social networking sites have panicked people and received criticism too.

Nepal Police has appealed to all not to run after rumor but follow the authentic information the government shares from time to time.

The government has already announced that anyone involved in spreading rumor and misleading information would face stringent action.
