KATHMANDU: Teams of Nepal Army (NA) have been mobilized at Nepal-India border points to perform COVID-19 screenings on people arriving through the entry points.

NA Spokesperson Brigadier General Bigyandev Pandey told Khabarhub that medial teams of the national army have been mobilized at all the 41 border crossings.

NA Headquarters in Kathmandu, through a mobile app, will receive the report of the screenings performed.

“We have developed a mobile app and mobilized medial teams at all the border points. The report of screenings will be conveyed through the app,” NA Spokesperson Pandey said, “Through such data, we can find out the number of people arriving in Nepal and their health issues.”

‘Three T’ concept for monitoring of COVID-19 suspects

The national army has forwarded the ‘Three T’ concept— Tracking, Tracing and Treatment—for combating a possible infection of COVID-19.

A crisis management center that has been set up at NA headquarters will prepare a list of persons suspected to be infected with COVID-19.

“If a person entering through the border points is found to have a fever. S/he will be taken to the hospital. It is the tracking phase. Likewise, if a person is at risk of catching an infection but is not in contact of government agencies, we will track such person and find out whom the person meet,” Spokesperson Pandey added, “At last, such person will be taken to hospital for treatment in the final phase.”

According to him, the concept has been effective in South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore.
