KATHMANDU: Political parties are holding separate meetings in the changed political context created following the dissolution of the parliament and the announcement of a mid-term poll.

The main opposition parties including Nepali Congress (NC) are holding an all-party meeting today to dwell on the new political scenario.

Similarly, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is holding a meeting with the leaders and cadres of his faction at Baluwatar at 9 am today.

President of main opposition NC Sher Bahadur Deuba has called an all-party meeting at the central party headquarters in Sanepa at 4 pm.

According to NC sources, the meeting will dwell on the latest political development and come up with a common agenda.

Meanwhile, Prachanda-Nepal faction and opposition parties are dissatisfied with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli following the dissolution of the parliament.

Opposition parties have taken strong exception to the Prime Minister’s move to dissolve the parliament terming it ‘unconstitutional, anti-democratic and against the mandate of the people’.

An emergency meeting called at Baluwatar by Prime Minister Oli on Sunday morning recommended the President to dissolve the parliament. President Bidya Bhandari dissolved the parliament at the recommendation of the cabinet meeting and announced the fresh date for mid-term poll on April 30 and May 10, 2021.

A Standing Committee meeting held on Sunday has decided to take action against Oli.
