838 diagnosed coronavirus positive, Nepal’s caseload reaches 30,483

KATHMANDU: A total of 838 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the last 24 hours, including 182 in Kathmandu Valley.

The new infections include 546 men and 292 women in the 13,589 sample tests carried out in laboratories across the country, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

With the new cases, Nepal’s coronavirus tally has reached 30,483.

So far, 579,899 samples have been tested through the PCR method for the coronavirus, said Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam at the routine daily press meet on Friday afternoon.

According to Dr. Gautam, four people from Ilam, two from Udayapur, seven from Jhapa, one from Taplejung, one from Panchthar, 45 from Morang and 29 from Sunsari have been confirmed to have coronavirus.

Similarly, the infection has been confirmed in three people of Dhanusha, 80 people of Parsa, 40 people of Bara, 11 people of Rautahat, five people of Saptari, 24 people of Sarlahi and 16 people of Siraha.

According to Dr. Gautam, 142 people from Kathmandu, 23 from Chitwan, one from Dolakha, one from Dhading, two from Nuwakot, 15 from Bhaktapur, 32 from Makwanpur, 25 from Rasuwa, 25 from Lalitpur and 8 from Sindhuli have been diagnosed positive.

Similarly, one person from Kaski, 19 from Nawalparasi East, one from Parbat, two from Manang, three from Baglung and one from Syangja have been confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus.

Tests confirmed in one person from Arghakhanchi, two from Kapilvastu, one from Gulmi, four from Dang, one from Palpa, six from Pyuthan, six from Bardiya, 20 from Banke, 17 from Rupandehi and one from Rolpa to have the coronavirus.

Likewise, one from Kalikot, 53 from Jumla, one from Dailekh and three from Rukum West have been diagnosed coronavirus positive.

Coronavirus has been confirmed in 38 of Achham, 14 of Kanchanpur, 85 of Kailali, two of Dadeldhura, 34 of Doti and three of Baitadi.

Meanwhile, 250 people were discharged after recovering from the virus in various isolation centers today. With this, the total number of recovery has reached 18,214.

A total of 12,234 people are still in quarantine with 12,132 active cases. Among the infected, 8,546 are in institutional isolation while 3,586 are in home-based isolation.

Meanwhile, 11 more people died of COVID-19 today, taking the death toll to 137 in the country.
