Police rescue 41 women during lockdown

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau rescued as many as 41 women — victims of trafficking.

According to the Bureau, the women were rescued from various cities of Nepal and India during the lockdown period.

They were brought back to safety with the coordination of various national and international organizations.

The women were lured of jobs and better future by human traffickers, according to the police.

Spokesperson of the Bureau, Govinda Thapaliya, said seven women were brought back from Delhi and 21 from Manipur of India.

Likewise, 13 women were brought back from various parts of Nepal, including Kailali, Nawalparasi, Chitwan, Sunsari, Makwanpur, Kaski, Bardiya and Banke.

According to the Bureau, those involved in trafficking will be investigated and punished as per the law.
