Governor Adhikari attends joint annual meeting of IMF and World Bank



KATHMANDU: Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari attended the joint annual virtual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group.

Governor Adhikari participated in the annual meeting held from October 12-18, 2020.

During the meeting, Governor Adhikari discussed with IMF Deputy Managing Director, Tao Zhang the impact of COVID-19 on Nepal’s economy and financial sector as well as the policy measures adopted to mitigate it.

He also discussed the contribution made by the fund in the development process of Nepal through financial and technical assistance.

Similarly, he held discussions with Alfonso Garcia Mora, Vice-President, International Finance Corporation (IFC) in the Asia-Pacific region.

Governor Adhikari also participated in the Plenary Session / ‘Toronto Centre Roundtable Discussion’ held on October 15.

During the various meetings, discussions were held on the areas of promotion of bilateral interests, areas of economic and technical cooperation, the impact of COVID-19 on Nepal’s financial sector and the policy measures taken to reduce it.

At the annual meeting, the Governor’s Office Director Narayan Prasad Pokharel and Deputy Director Dambar Subedi were also present.
