Lidi landslide: death toll hits 29



SINDHUPALCHOWK: The number of people killed after they were buried by landslide occurred at Lidi, Jugal rural municipality-2 of Sindhupalchowk district last Friday has reached 29.

Bodies of three people who had gone unaccounted for in the disaster have been found today.

Bodies of 18-year-old Lalita Dong, 42-year-old Bibirani Dong, five-year-old Sanu Kanchha Dong and 44-year-old Hira Bahadur Dong have been pulled out of the landslide debris, Police inspector at the area Police Office Jalbire, Hari Bhattarai, said.

A joint search and rescue team of Nepali Army, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force has been searching for 10 more people who are still missing.

The landslide swept away as many as 37 houses and left 39 people missing on last Friday morning.
