KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley is witnessing a weeklong prohibitory order effective from today to contain the spread of coronavirus, which is increasing every day.
The prohibitory order would be implemented so strictly that action would be taken against even those going out of their houses for morning walk.
The security agencies will keep their eyes on those violating the prohibitory order.
The essential services and supplies will, however, continue unabatedly during the period.
Chief District Officer in Kathmandu Janakraj Dahal explained, “There will be strict implementation of the prohibitory order. Those not abiding by the order shall be brought to book as per the Infectious Disease Act-2020.”
“Even those going for morning or evening walk shall not be spared,” warned Dahal, further stating that violators would face jail term up to one month and Rs 100 in fine or both.
Unlike the lockdown when the District Administration Office, Kathmandu had issued vehicle permit, there will not be such passes this time.
More than 100 new COVID-19 have been reported on daily basis in the Valley leading to the shortage of beds in hospitals for the infected one.
Furthermore, to prevent the spread of the flu-like infection in the community level, the meeting of the CDOs of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts on Tuesday had taken the decision to impose prohibitory order to restrict the vehicular and people’s movement.
Nepal Police’s central spokesperson SSP Kuber Kadayat said that all preparation was made for effective implementation of the prohibitory order.
The prohibitory order will last until August 26. Action would be taken against those coming out from home unnecessarily.
Movement of public and private vehicles has been restricted. Operation of all types of business except essential service has been stopped.
The movement of goods carrying vehicles, health workers and security personnel would only be allowed.
Entry of vehicles in Kathmandu Valley has been prohibited.
Movement of people assigned for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 infection, treatment and management is allowed on the basis of authorized identity card.
