KMC to set up 5,000-bed isolation ward within a week

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) says it will set up an isolation ward of 5,000 beds within a week with the collaboration of federal, state and local governments.

KMC Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya said preparations were in full swing to establish the 5,000-bed isolation ward for the management of coronavirus infected people in the wake of increasing cases of COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley of late.

Mayor Shakya also urged the citizens to help government in effective implementation of the decision to impose prohibitory order again.

It may be noted that the Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday witnessed 159 new cases of coronavirus.
