Editors condemn statement issued by Chinese Embassy



KATHMANDU: Editors associated with different media houses have condemned the press statement issued by the Chinese Embassy in Nepal in regard to an article published in English newspaper The Kathmandu Post.

Issuing a statement, 17 editors have condemned the statement issued by the Embassy.

The Kathmandu Post had published a feature article headlined ‘China’s secrecy has made coronavirus crisis much worse’ in its recent edition.

The Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu had released a statement criticizing the kind of reporting and opinions the English daily has been publishing.

The editors in the embassy have stated that the threat issued by the Embassy mentioning the name of the editor was condemnable.

They have reminded the Embassy of breaching diplomatic decorum.
