KATHMANDU: Bagmati Province has taken initiation for the construction of the proposed Bhimphedi- Kulekhani tunnel way.

The province government is currently working on a Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the project and is preparing to call for a tender within the fiscal year for construction.

Bagmati Province geared up for the project after a private company that was assigned for the construction work failed to start works.

Bagmati Chief Minister Dormani Poudel shared that a DPR of the project is being prepared.

“The process of preparing DPR has entered its final phase. Most probably, it will be readied by March/April. The tender process will start once DPR is readied,” Poudel said.

Saying that the province has forwarded the project as a project of provincial pride, Chief Minister Poudel claimed that approval from the federal government was not needed.

The total cost for the four kilometers long tunnel way has been estimated at Rs 12 billion.
