KATHMANDU: The intra-party row in the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is likely to escalate further since Prime Minister KP Oli has rebuffed what he said “all substandard allegations” against him. He has also challenged the disgruntled faction to prove the allegations.

Wednesday’s meeting of the Secretariat has been postponed for 10 days allowing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to present his political dossier.

Irked by the political proposal submitted by NCP Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, PM Oli tried to postpone the Wednesday’s meeting but in vain.

Though rendered into minority after the majority of Secretariat Committee members were dissatisfied with Oli for running the government unilaterally, he did not show flexibility in yesterday’s meeting.

Oli, who bought 10 days’ time for the preparation of a political proposal, warned that he would not tolerate the mean and baseless allegations in the meeting.

PM Oli has dubbed Dahal’s 19-page-long political proposal which was submitted at the Secretariat last Friday as a “conspiracy to finish his political career”.

Meanwhile, during Wednesday’s meeting, Prime Minister Oli said: As you all know, the party is currently passing through a difficult juncture. It is, in fact, facing a grave crisis.

The allegation made in the dossier should either be annulled or the accused one should be relieved of the responsibilities, PM Oli said.

“Five comrades repeatedly urged me to convene the meeting of the party Secretariat through a letter in which they have put serious allegations on me,” he said adding, “I could not remain silent without responding to those allegations since the allegations against me were baseless and unfounded.”

“I, therefore, wrote a letter to another Chairman of the party. I received a response from him with a flurry of charges against me. The letter was distributed to the members of the Secretariat. It was not a political dossier to be distributed in the meeting,” he added.

“The Chairman even went for a media stunt against me. I have been consistently pressurized to quit either one of the two posts of Prime Minister and party Chairman,” PM Oli said.

He added that there were rumors of majority and minority. “I don’t see any substantial certainty to this claim. Factionalism will ruin the party. I am not against the idea of the discussion. I disprove all allegations against me. I will present my views in writing.”

PM Oli further emphasized a new solution if previous agreements do not remain. “It is high time that the party needed a solution as the previous agreements do not remain. We now need to look for a new solution. My intention is to move forward together to save the party intact.”

Oli also rebuffed what he said “all substandard allegations” against him. “To tell you the truth, I never have experienced the use of such language and style in the allegations in a party committee.”

He also said that no individual can remain a Prime Minister and a party Chairman carrying such cheap allegations challenging the other Chairman Dahal to prove his allegations. “If it is true, he has to quit.”

The Prime Minister said he was prepared to face any consequences further asking his colleagues to make a choice of their path ahead.

“See, I have repeatedly told you that I have come here facing so many hurdles such as jails, beatings and torture. I have faced boots and batons to reach to this point.”

“Therefore, I have no difficulty to face any sort of situation against me,” he added.
