 Muslim community protests against China for ‘suppressing Uigur minority’



BIRGUNJ: Muslim Community has staged a demonstration in Birgunj against the suppression and human rights violations of Uigur Muslim community in China.

The demonstrators hit the streets shouting slogans, “Safeguard Human Rights of Uigur Muslism Community”, “End Atrocity on Uigur Community,” in front of District Administration Office, Parsa.

Following the demonstration, the irate Muslim people handed over a protest letter to the Assistant Chief District Officer of the Parsa, seeking an end to the atrocity being inflicted on minority Uigur community by the China government, informed Moulana Ali Asgar Madani, a member of the Muslim community.

Around 1.8 million Uigur Muslim people live in China. Earlier on last Thursday, Muslim community had staged demonstrations against China in Kathmandu and Rupandehi. They have also handed over a memorandum to the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.

The China government has allegedly detained 1.8 million Uigur Muslim people and inhumanly tortured them during the detention period for wearing burkas and observing Roza, a fasting during Ramadan.
