Pashupatinath Temple to remain closed on Mondays as well

KATHMANDU: Pashupatinath Temple will remain closed tomorrow for devotees offering special prayers on every Monday on the holy month of Shrawan (July 16-August 16).

As the government has continued its decision not to open temples, schools and other crowded places, the famed temple has been closed for devotees.

According to Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) Member Secretary Pradip Dhakal, the temple will not be opened for worship and offering prayers until the government decides to open it.

He added that it would not be appropriate to open the temple for devotees when the coronavirus infection has not been contained yet.

“Even the priests, including Bhatta and Bhandari, have been worshiping maintaining the social distance,” he said.

On every Monday of this month, Hindu women take fasting and worship Lord Shiva. In previous years, the Pashupatinath temple used to be crowded on Mondays.
