SC scheduled to hear writ by Sarita Giri

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) is scheduled to hear a writ petition filed by former lawmaker Sarita Giri against the Samajwadi Party Nepal’s decision to expel her from the Parliament and the party.

A joint bench of Justices Hari Krishna Karki and Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada has been scheduled to hear the case.

The party had last week expelled Giri for not abiding the party’s whip concerning the Constitution amendment bill brought to implement Nepal’s revised map in the coat of arms.

Giri has sought revocation of the decision alleging the party for expelling her unlawfully.

Giri, in her petition, has labeled the party’s action against her as ‘apolitical, which she further claimed was made without informing her.

It should be noted that Giri had registered an amendment proposal against the amendment bill saying that Nepal lacks evidence to establish that Kalapani, Limpiyadhura, and Lipu Lekh belong to Nepal.
