1,155 migrant workers repatriated from different countries



KATHMANDU: A total of 1,155 Nepalis stranded due to COVID-19 in different destination countries were evacuated on Saturday in chartered flights.

The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) saw 13 international chartered flights including departure and arrival. Six dead bodies of Nepali migrant workers were also brought home on Saturday.

Aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) brought 258 passengers and two dead bodies from Riyadh and 129 passengers and a dead body from Bahrain. Likewise, 149 passengers and two dead bodies were repatriated from Doha in the chartered flight.

Similarly, Himalaya Airlines brought 156 passengers from Doha and 139 passengers from Bahrain, the TIA Office shared.

Furthermore, 157 Nepalis were brought home back in a plane of Fly Dubai from Dubai.

According to TIA Office, the aircraft of NAC and Himalaya Airlines have left for Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi to bring Nepalis back home.
