KATHMANDU: Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that Nepal will not accept any kind of supports attached to security alignment.
“Nepal pursues nonaligned foreign policy. Therefore, any development support from friendly countries that honor Nepal’s sovereign independence and nonaligned policy only will be welcomed. Any kind of supports attached with security alignment that contradicts our constitution can’t be accepted by any means,” Dahal said during a conference organized by NCP and the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Friday.
His remark comes at the time when the leaders of the ruling party have been divided over the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact. However, ‘Prachanda’ didn’t spell out any words about US assistance.
He said mutual trust, friendship and good neighborliness are the hallmarks of the relations between the two countries adding, “We can say with proud that we Nepal and China enjoy trouble-free relations between the two neighbors of different size, demography and development stage.”
Dahal said Nepal stands firm and resolute on ‘One-China Policy’ and supports Taiwan’s peaceful reunification.
Stating that Nepal firmly supports China on Hong Kong issues, Tibet and Xinjiang matter, Dahal said Nepal believes in non-interference in the internal matters by external forces in any pretext.
NCP Chairman Dahal further noted that his party wishes to work together with the Communist Party of China for common development, prosperity, peace and harmony.
