65-year-old Baglung woman recovers from COVID-19

BAGLUNG: A 65-year-old elderly woman has tested negative for COVID-19 in her throat swab test for the second time. She had tested negative for the first time earlier on Thursday.

According to Public Health Laboratory Pokhara, two continuous negative results mean the woman has recovered.

Chief of Gandaki State Health Office Suraj Gurau said that she is cured of coronavirus as the third and fourth of the swab tests were negative. However, doctors have said that she should stay in the home quarantine for some days after her discharge.

Dhaulagiri Hospital here is preparing to discharge the woman after her 17 days stay in the hospital, according to the Hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr. Shailendra B Pokharel.

“We are preparing to discharge her today itself or tomorrow,” Dr. Pokharel added.

The woman, who is the sixth COVID-19 patient of Nepal, had arrived from Belgium via Qatar transit on March 17.

She was diagnosed with the disease on April 2.

Earlier today, the second COVID-19 patient of Nepal got discharged from the Teku-based Shukraraj Tropical & Infectious Disease Hospital after 27 days of stay at the hospital.
