Prachanda-Nepal faction warns of further steps against Oli if ordinance not withdrawn

KATHMANDU: A gathering of the disgruntled leaders of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has concluded to take further steps if Prime Minister KP Oli doesn’t withdraw the ordinance on Constitutional Council.

A gathering of NCP leaders of the district and central members from Province 1 loyal to NCP Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal held at Perisdanda reached a conclusion to that end, said Central Committee member Jagannath Khatiwada.

“If the ordinance is not withdrawn, we will take further steps and the same issue was discussed in today’s gathering,” Khatiwada told reporters after the meeting, “Laws, methods, and politics of the party are being eroded by Prime Minister Oli.”

Khatiwada said that everyone had read the reports of both Prachanda and Oli and that they had come to the conclusion that Oli was wrong.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman Prachanda, senior leaders Jhalanath Khanal and Nepal said that they would not allow the party to be divided but would continue to fight against wrong tendencies.

“All the leaders who spoke discussed the ideological aspects of party unity, the historical context and the way forward,” Khatiwada said, “Everyone has the same conclusion not to allow the party to be divided and to fight against wrong tendencies.”

Khatiwada claimed that today’s meeting was not a factional meeting.
