Govt serious to make foreign employment productive: Labor Minister

KATHMANDU: Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Rameshwor Raya Yadav has said that the government was seriously working to make foreign employment safe, systematic, decent and comparatively more productive.

In a message today on the occasion of the International Migrants Day 2020, he said that the government was advancing to ensure security, interests and welfare of Nepali migrant workers and their families back home by addressing the challenges in the concerned fields.

Stating that policy and legal bases for labourers were prepared and the contribution-based social security scheme was brought in practice in Nepal, Minister Raya Yadav said that the government was committed to ensuring employment opportunities for the labour force that enters into the domestic labour market every year.

The Minister has also mentioned that the government was doing homework for the production of skilled human resources.

The United Nations General Assembly in 2000 had decided to mark December 18 as the International Migrants Day.

On the basis of same decision, the Government of Nepal has been observing this day by organizing different programs.
