Nepali Congress General Convention likely to be postponed until June

KATHMANDU:The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) is all set to postpone its 14th general convention until the second week of June next year.

Following an informal agreement reached between the office bearers and the top leaders, the two General Secretaries will prepare a proposal and submit it to the central working committee meeting on Thursday.

Dr Shashank Koirala and Purna Bahadur Khadka have been entrusted with the responsibility to prepare a proposal for the same.

The NC had earlier decided to hold its 14th General Convention from 19-22 February next year.

Preparations have been made to postpone the General Convention to the second week of June as there has been no progress so far as per the schedule.

Moreover, there is no immediate possibility of holding the General Convention on the scheduled date.

The two general secretaries are making a proposal for the same after discussing the issue with all leaders and suggest a convenient date with a new schedule to the party’s Central Working Committee.

According to a general secretary, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and leader Ram Chandra Poudel have already given their consent.
