POKHARA: The construction work of the Pokhara International Airport has reached its final stage.

However, no one has paid attention to the fact that the airport is in danger due to a dumping site at Pokhara Metropolitan City-14 Bachchebaduwa.

According to international standards, there should be no dumping site within 5 kilometers of the airport. But, the dumping side is within the range.

Having a dumping site nearby the airport increases the risk of a bird strike, aviation experts have warned.

Dhan Bahadur Nepali, Spokesperson of Pokhara Metropolitan City, said that they are looking for a new dumping site to make the airport safe.

He also said that there is a plan to build a dumping site in Sardikhola of Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality as an alternative to the existing dumping site.
