Constitution cannot be amended to fulfill individual interest: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has asserted that the government was ready to amend the Constitution if required.

Launching ‘A treatise on the Constitution of Nepal, 2015’, at the Prime Minister’s official residence at Baluwatar, Prime Minister Oli dubbed the Constitution of Nepal a “dynamic document” having more fundamental rights as compared to other countries of the world.

PM Oli said some topics of the Constitution can be amended in course of bringing it into right implementation in practice.

“The government is prepared to amend the constitution on the basis of justification,” he said.

He further stated that the agenda of constitution amendment should not be brought in the interest of an individual or a specific section.

“The constitution has the power to unite all on the issue of nationality,” he said citing the example of unity in the course of issuing the new political map of the country.

He maintained that the Constitution, which has given priority to humanitarian security, civilization and development, has reflected the goal of prosperity.

PM Oli also urged people to understand socialism as social justice, equality and participation of all in achievements.
