NC extends relief support to the disaster survivors



KATHMANDU: The major opposition Nepali Congress has extended the monetary support of Rs 4.5 million in 30 districts in a bid to intensify the campaign to rescue operation and relief distribution to those surviving in monsoon-caused disasters.

Chief Secretary at party office Krishna Prasad Poudel shared that the amount was provided via NC district working committee. Each committee got Rs 150 thousand for the relief distribution. It is provided as the first phase of assistance.

The districts receiving the support at Lamjung, Siraha, Gulmi, Nuwakot, Syangja, Baglung, Myagdi, Palpa, Taplejung, Okhaldhunga, Sankhuwasabha, Parbat, Sindhupalchowk, Mahottari, Parsa, Dhading, Panchthar, Tehrathum, Makwanpur, Bara, Sarlahi, Kavre, Rasuwa, Dhanusha, Bajhang, Jajarkot, Khotang and Kaski.

The NC is always in the forefront to provide relief to those who are suffering a humanitarian crisis, added Secretary Poudel.

Meanwhile, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed grief over the demise of Vice-President of the party in Nawalparasi Paschim, Subash Chandra Giri. The 38-year-old Giri breathed his last during treatment at Patan Hospital, Lalitpur, on Tuesday.

The party lost an able person, Deuba said, extending condolences to the bereaved family members. “Giri had played a significant role in democratic movements in the country,” he reminded.

Similarly, NC President Deuba expressed grief over the death of a member of the party’s central education department, Pramod Kumar Gupta, from Parsa. Reminding his role on democratic movement in the country, the NC President extended condolences to the bereaved family members. RSS
